Its scans are a little slow, and it hasn’t gained traction in the marketplace, which makes it difficult to get an accurate picture of how successful it has been for its users. IBoysoft Data Recovery seems to work as advertised, and may, in fact, successfully recover your lost data. R-Studio is an advanced tool suitable for data recovery professionals. It is a reliable and effective application, but its scans can be time-consuming. Stellar is an easy-to-use application with a wide variety of features. If iBoysoft Data Recovery isn’t right for you, here are some alternatives I recommend.ĭata Recovery offers an easy-to-use wizard that will scan your drive quickly for lost files. Purchasing a license allows you to recover an unlimited amount of data. That’s useful for testing, but not enough for most real-world situations. The free version will show you which lost files the software can locate and allows you to recover 1 GB of data. A scan with Bitdefender Virus Scanner found no malware. Yes, scanning for lost data will not overwrite your existing data, and any recovered files are saved to a different drive. The iBoysoft Support Center provides a technical manual, online help, and a FAQ. The fastest took just four minutes, and the slowest, 10 minutes. That’s a little slower than eight other Mac data recovery apps I tested. A quick scan just took a second or two, and a deep scan 12 minutes. To find out I scanned a 4GB USB flash drive. Scanning for lost files can be time-consuming. Recovered files are saved to a different drive, not the original. Preview the files that are located and select the files to recover.Scan that location for lost or deleted files.Select the drive or partition where you lost data.Data recovery is accomplished in three steps: Software setup is straightforward, and no technical knowledge is required to use the software. SMART monitoring for early warning of failing hard drives. Deleting duplicates and other cleanup features.Recovery Vault to store deleted files for guaranteed recovery. However, it lacks a number of features offered by some other recovery applications: Sorting and searching the files located to narrow down the results to a more manageable number.Saving scans for recovery at a later time.IBoysoft Data Recovery offers a few additional features: Supported file types: Most popular photo, document, video, music, and email formats. The Mac APFS and HFS+ formats cannot be read with the Windows version. The TRIM technology that increases their efficiency also makes it impossible to recover your files once the trash has been emptied.Īn additional software product must be purchased from the company to read Windows NTFS drives on a Mac. RAID drives are not supported.ĭisclaimer: It is difficult to recover data from solid-state drives (SSDs). Supported storage media: Hard drives (internal and external), USB drives, flash drives, SD cards, CF cards, memory cards, memory sticks, microcards, and more. A deep scan of a partition for lost files and file fragments no longer listed in the directory structure.A quick scan of the directory structure for deleted files. That space on the drive is marked as available, and in time new files will overwrite the data. How is data recovery possible? When you delete a file its data is not immediately removed from the drive. In this review, we will focus on the Professional Edition for Mac. Plans suitable for data recovery technicians are also available.Ī free trial will show you if your files can be recovered before paying for the application and allows you to recover 1 GB of data. The Mac prices are subscriptions and are at the expensive end of the scale. The Windows prices are one-time purchases and the Standard Edition is comparable with other data recovery solutions.

More notably, the Shire was the breed of choice for the delivery of ale from the brewer to the public houses – England’s equivalent to North America’s Budweiser Clydesdales. However, mechanization and the evolution of the breed, very early saw the Shire gain prevalence as a cart horse. Like the Belgian Draft horse – and several other heavy breeds – the Shire originated as a war horse. There are still reportedly fewer than 300 registered Shires in all of Canada. In the United States, the Livestock Conservancy lists the breed as “critical” and the Equus Survival Trust calls it “vulnerable”. To this day, however, the Rare Breeds Survival Trust lists the Shire as “at risk” with population numbers estimated to be under 1,500. The introduction of artificial insemination in 1997 further bolstered the breed. Breed societies have been established in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, France and Germany and the first World Shire Horse Congress was held in Peterborough in 1996. In Canada, the Shire had been extinct for more than 40 years prior to imports that saw its return in the 1980s. In the 1970s, the breed began to be revived through increased public interest. The breed fell to its lowest point during the 1950s and 1960s, with only 25 horses registered in the United States. This, combined with strict regulations on the purchase of livestock feed sadly led to the slaughter of thousands of Shire horses and the closure of several large breeding programs. Around the time of the second world war, increased mechanization rendered draft breeds more and more obsolete. Nearly 4,000 Shires were imported to the United States between 19 and approximately 6,700 Shires were registered with the association between 19 and the breed continued to flourish both in England and North America, for several years following.Īt peak population, the Shire breed numbered over a million. In 1885 the American Shire Horse Association was established as a platform to register and promote the breed domestically. The first exported Shires horses reached America in 1853, with large numbers beginning to arrive in the 1880s. Between 19 approximately 5,000 Shire horses were registered each year with the society. As a result, the English Cart Horse Society was formed in 1878, and only six years later was renamed the Shire Horse Society due to the prevalence of the Shire horses. The famous “Packington Blind Horse” from Leicestershire is commonly recognized as the foundation stallion of the modern-day Shire breed, standing at stud for 15 years – quite a feat in terms of equine life expectancy of that era.ĭuring the nineteenth century, Shire horses were extensively used as cart horses, moving essential goods from the docks, through busy cities and further on to the countryside. The term “Shire Horse” was first referenced in the middle of the seventeenth century with inconsistent records beginning to appear near the end of the eighteenth century. Eventually two different types of black draft horses evolved: the Fen or Lincolnshire type (larger, with more bone and extra hair) and the Midlands or Leicester type (known for their endurance and finer appearance). During this time, a man by the name of Robert Bakewell of Leicestershire, imported six Dutch (or Flanders) mares, resulting in the supposedly superior Bakewell Black horse. It’s believed that the Friesian bloodlines were introduced to domestic draft breeds, influencing what would later become known as the Shire breed.Īt the onset of the seventeenth century this medieval hybrid was called the Old English Black. It was during the sixteenth century that Dutch engineers brought Friesian horses to England to drain the Fenlands – a coastal plain in the east. Oliver Cromwell’s cavalry sought out lighter, faster mounts and the heavier drafts were relegated to draught work instead. More specifically, the Shire is linked to the time of Henry VIII when the increasing role of gunpowder diminished the use of heavy horses in battle. Like that of the Belgian draft horse, historians trace the Shire back to the destriers or the “Great Horse”. The Shire is a British breed of draft horse that was formally established in the mid-eighteenth century, although, like many of the draft breeds we’re profiling, the Shire’s origins are much older. Next up we have another special draft breed, the Shire. So far, we’ve featured the iconic Clydesdale, the majestic Percheron (the horse favoured by medieval knights) and the Belgian. We hope you’ve been following along on our Tally-Ho horse breeds mini-series and enjoying getting to know the unique history and characteristics of some of the world’s most beloved draft horse breeds. (Some model actually modeled these wigs in 1939!) The way they resist me-even before I manipulate them, or even after I blot out their original stylings with my own Plasticine blobby wigs-is that I know I’m looking at someone who was eighteen in 1939, as opposed to somebody who was eighteen in 1970. The signs from a page of Ebony come with their own specificity and undeniable drag-their inability to be fully woven into my world. GALLAGHER: My mind is also activated by the resistance of the material. Artwork courtesy of Two Palms Press, New York. Production still from the Art in the Twenty-First Century Season 3 episode, Play. And then I realized that I also had a kind of longing for the other stories, the narratives-wanting to bring them back into the paintings and wanting the paintings to function through the characters of the ads, to function as a kind of chart or a map of this lost world. I started collecting the wig ads themselves. But as I began looking through them, the wig ads themselves had such a language to them-so worldly-that referred to other countries, Leshiba, this sort of lost past. Initially I was attracted to the magazines because the wig advertisements had a grid-like structure that interested me. I’ve collected archival material from black photo journals from 1939 to 1972, looking at magazines like Our World, Sepia, and Ebony. The characters exist within the support itself, the page. Now, the paper itself isn’t something that’s only a support, as it was in the earlier works. GALLAGHER: The large works at Gagosian are made in a way similar to the earlier penmanship paper works: they are built from found material. Penmanship paper is the found material that I always see as a reference to how you make your letters-what height, and where you dot your i-so, it’s always been a sign of gesture for me.ĪRT21: It seems like there’s a variation of this practice in the paintings from the eXelento show at Gagosian, especially in the use of the grid. So, there’s this push and pull between the watery blue of the penmanship paper lines and the gestural marks made inside and around them. But up close, you see that it’s a kind of striated, broken grid. The lines of the penmanship paper sort of line up and, from a distance, almost form a seamless kind of horizon line. And they really became something that can be read both sheet-to-sheet and as an overall skin. Then I began drawing and painting into the pages, after they’d all been laid down in a skin. That way, I could sit on the canvas as I began gluing down sheets of penmanship paper, from top to bottom, left to right. I built a latticework grid and, over that, laid down very thin plywood and stretched the canvas over that. So, when I went to art school, that was what I knew how to do, and that’s the way I built my canvases. Basically, I built a box over and over again for months. I worked in the saw yard where we built the molds that the cement was poured into. And I worked building a bridge (a floating bridge that has since collapsed). GALLAGHER: I didn’t really come from a fine-arts background although I certainly went to museums as a kid. Artist Ellen Gallagher discusses her process and how she came to use collaged paper in her paintings.ĪRT21: How did arrive at collaging paper into your paintings? As I wrap up Salute Your Shorts week, I want to thank the cast and crew who were a part of Salute Your Shorts. This change in behavior is known as meth addiction, or methamphetamine use disorder. The drug also makes dramatic changes to your brain structure in a very short time, which can lead you to keep using it despite any negative consequences on your life, health, and relationships. It sends your brain’s dopamine levels into the stratosphere, so to speak. Meth produces more reward chemicals than your brain can fully handle. If you take more than one stimulant at a time, you have a higher risk of experiencing a stroke or heart attack, and your body may overheat. It’s also dangerous to combine meth with other stimulants, like cocaine. These rapid changes can put a lot of strain on your body, to the point where you need emergency medical attention. What’s more, combining meth - a stimulant - with depressants like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines can have a tug-of-war effect on your bodily functions.įor instance, your heart rate may speed up, slow down, and then speed up again, because your body metabolizes each drug at different rates. You may not feel alcohol’s effects as you typically would, so you might drink more alcohol than your body can process. But it may also lead you to feel more anxious and agitated - not to mention increase your risk of alcohol poisoning or overdose. But it’s not a good idea to mix these substances.Īlcohol could potentially boost the effects of meth by heightening its euphoric effects. If you feel calmer when drinking alcohol, you might assume it’ll help you feel less restless or jittery when you take meth. Stimulant use (including MDMA, MDA, MDEA, amfetamine, methamfetamine, 4MEC, MDPV, MMC & BZP) may also be detected via our urinary Drugs of Abuse Screen by LC-MS/MS. Please note, this assay is for the quantitative determination of amfetamine in blood. Myocardial infarction, aortic dissection, ischaemic stroke and cerebral haemorrhage have been described in users of the drug. Chronic useage is associated with a high incidence of weight loss, hallucinations and paranoid psychosis. Around 30% of amfetamine is excreted unchanged in urine, but this may increase to 74% in acid urine and decrease to 1% in alkaline urine.Įxcessive doses of amfetamine can cause restlessness, anxiety, confusion, irritability, hyperactivity and aggressive or bizarre behavior. These latter three metabolites are pharmacologically active and may contribute to the effects of the drug, especially in chronic usage. However, a small amount is converted by oxidation to norephedrine, and this compound and its parent are p-hydroxylated. It is also a metabolite of a number of other drugs including fenethylline, fenproporex and methamfetamine.Īmfetamine is largely inactivated during metabolism, being deaminated to phenyacetone, which is subsequently oxidized to benzoic acid and excreted as conjugates. Amfetamine is frequently abused for its stimulant effects and may be self-administered either orally or by intravenous injection in amounts of up to 2000 mg daily by tolerant addicts. The compound was first synthesized in 1887 and has been used since 1935 in the treatment of obesity, narcolepsy and hypotension. Amfetamine (Amphetamine) is a sympathomimetic phenethylamine derivative with prominent central stimulant activity. The short answer is yes, Cubera Snapper is a delicious fish to eat. These are pretty convenient because the tuna swims right down to where the snappers congregate. Live bait made of big fish such as skipjack tuna can lure the fish onto the hook. Use iron jigs and other larger metal ones that will work off the bottom to catch bigger cubera snapper. What’s the best time to catch snapper?Įarly morning and evening is the best time for snapper, since many fish feed at night and rely on low light for camouflage, especially in shallow water. Soft plastics would be up there with the most effective methods. Snapper will take a wide variety of lures. Other great strip baits include cuttlefish, squid and octopus. When targeting bigger Snapper head baits or butterfly baits of slimey mackeral, whiting, tommy rough work well. Red snapper live on the bottom, and will inhabit rocky bottoms or other structure and reefs (or artificial reefs like offshore oil rigs). The most popular places to catch red snapper are in the panhandle of Florida or off the coast of central Texas. Where is the best place to catch red snapper? They are also caught using poppers and jigs. These fish are somewhat of a scavenger and will feed on a large butterflied dead bait as well. Most of the published studies on physical exercise and cognition in children have come from the West with few published studies from developing countries. To the best of our knowledge there are no known published Indian studies examining physical activity and cognition in school children from an economically disadvantaged background. In the present study, we examined the association between aerobic fitness and cognitive functions in 7-9 year old school going children from a socio-economically disadvantaged background living in Bangalore, India. The sample size consisted of hundred, 7-9 year old healthy (as assessed by clinical examination by medical professionals) school going children hailing from a socio-economically disadvantaged background (average monthly income of 2000 INR, equivalent to 46 USD approximately). All participants were recruited from a single school in Urban Bangalore, India. From a total of 200 children who were part of a larger interventional study on the effects of yoga practices on cognitive performance, physical fitness was assessed in 100 randomly selected children at baseline before the start of yoga intervention. The children gave oral assent while the parents/legal guardian provided written informed consent. The school also provided written permission to conduct the study on its children, on the school premises. The study was approved by the Institutional Ethical Review Board of St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. Socio-demographic details were obtained from all children. Height, weight and BMI (Body Mass Index) were recorded. Children underwent a physical examination and apparently healthy children with no history of chronic diseases, physical or mental handicap and not severely undernourished (<-3SD for weight for age and -3SD height for age z scores of the National center for health statistics / WHO standards) ( 6) were invited to participate in the study. The Indian adaptation of WISC II, Malin’s Intelligence Scale for Indian Children ( 7) was used to measure cognitive performance. The test contains both verbal and performance subtests. For the purpose of the present study, 4 verbal, and 3 performance tests from the battery of tests were used. The verbal tests were comprehension, arithmetic, vocabulary and analogies. Block design, object assembly and coding were the performance tasks. The tests were administered by trained psychologists in the morning hours. The multistage 20 m shuttle test described by Leger and Lambert ( 8) was used as an index of physical fitness. Questions?
